From staff and wire reports

The Happy Trails Children's Foundation has announced the annual High Desert Shooting Fun Fair event will take place on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Lucerne Valley Lions Club Foundation and the Happy Trails Children’s Foundation. The event will be held at the Lucerne Valley Lions Club and Shooting Range at Highway 18 and Rabbit Springs Road in Lucerne Valley.

Fun for the entire family! Spend a day at the shooting range. You can try Cowboy Action Shooting and/or Action Pistol shooting. Try the NRA 3-gun shoot with .22 pistols, .22 rifles and .12 Ga. Shotguns. Shoot the big .50 caliber rifle and/or exotic and antique firearms. Shoot the guns of the Buffalo Hunters.

You can shoot guns of the Civil War and World War II. You can shoot modern military rifles and pistols. See how fast you can draw by trying Cowboy Fast Draw with wax bullets and electronic timers. Try your skill with a shotgun at aerial targets. Have fun with .22 rifles and pistols. We have BB guns for the kids to shoot. Ladies and first timers welcome.

Friendly experienced shooters will be standing by to safely help. All guns and ammo provided. Nominal charge for the ammo you shoot.

We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and VISA cards.

Enjoy live music on the patio featuring Tessie and the Calico Cats. Delicious sandwiches, chips and soda will be available for purchase. Buy tickets in the Opportunity Drawings for several great new firearms.

If you want to shoot your own guns and ammo, the range is open to the public on Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. There is a fee for using the range on those days. Eye and ear protection is required for all participants and spectators in the shooting area (safety glasses and ear plugs will be available on site). Target shooting is one of the safest sports you can participate in.
