The San Bernardino County Partnership for Renewable Energy and Conservation (SPARC) will host a informational meeting at the Lucerne Valley Community Center from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 15.
SPARC is drafting a Renewable Energy Element for the County General Plan.
The Lucerne Valley event kicks off a five-meeting series. A SPARC Forum meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m later that night at the Barstow Senior Center followed by meetings in Joshua Tree on March 16, San Bernardino on March 17 and Hesperia, also on March 17.
Phase 1 of SPARC began in the winter of 2014. The upcoming events mark the beginning of Phase 1.
The County published its Renewable Energy and Conservation Element Framework: Purpose, Values and Standards to establish the foundation for the draft Element and to summarize what was learned to-date.
During April and May of 2014, the County hosted the initial round of public outreach for SPARC Phase 1. In August of 2014, the County hosted a second round of public outreach for SPARC Phase 1. During both rounds of outreach activities, public stakeholders expressed their preferences and concerns about renewable energy development.
